what to bring

a blanket and a pillow. there are couches in here and they are comfortable, but a blanket is how you stake a claim and stretch out properly. the floor is the point.

snacks. whatever you want to drink. i am not feeding you. i am giving you the room.

something to share. a craft you are in the middle of. a game. a book you keep pushing on people. a record. a skill. the picnic is the people, and the people are better when they brought something.

the door

doors open at 1900. they lock at 1930. this is a secure building and i do not reopen them.

once you are in, you are in for the night. if you need air, an usher walks you down and back.

running late? write to me first and we will make an arrangement. do not show up at eight and knock. i will hear it. i will not answer.

what happens

vinyl on the decks. strange films running in more than one corner. pioneer square laid out underneath us, which is my favorite angle on this city and is about to be yours.

no program. no icebreakers. nobody is going to make you introduce yourself to the room. sit on the floor. eat your snacks. talk to whoever is on the next blanket over, or do not.
